All about the 2014 Hyundai Sonata

The 2014 edition of the Hyundai Sonata is a revolutionary vehicle. Not only is this model incredibly good on fuel, the base price is very low. Both of these components allow a person trying to purchase a vehicle on a shoestring budget the opportunity they’ve been looking for.Even though there are cheaper Hyundai’s on the market today (the Elantra for example), the Sonata is a step up putting you in a different class of driver!

2014 SonataSonata Specifications:

There are a few different types of Sonata you can purchase. For example, there is the GLS 4dr sedan, SE 4dr sedan, SE 2.0T 4dr sedan and the Limited 4dr sedan. The pricing for this vehicle starts at $20,532 for the most basic model, and goes all the way up to $28,650 (which would be for the “Limited Sonata”). All of the different models have around 192 horsepower, except for the Limited Sonata, that model has a staggering horsepower of 274. With the 2014 Hyundai Sonata, a 6-speed automatic transmission comes standard. But, if you want to manual shift, that option is still available to you. Let me explain, on the “shifter” there is a “+” button, this button will allow you to shift gears up. Also, on the shifter, there is a button with a “-“ on it, this button will allow you to shift down.

This vehicle is also equipped with cruise control, this feature is not just a very cool luxury feature; this is also your first defense against wasteful gas guzzling. For example, without your foot on the pedal constantly adjusting the speed (slowing down, speeding up), even if it seems minimal to you, this wastes gas. When cruise control is enabled, it keeps the vehicle at a perfectly constant speed, forcing the vehicle to be more fuel-efficient.

If safety is a large factor of the vehicle you want to purchase, the Hyundai Sonata might just be the perfect vehicle! The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded the Hyundai Sonata 2014 a 5 star rating. Whether your looking for a vehicle for a first time driver in your family, or yourself, you can rest assured the Sonata will protect any “precious cargo” onboard.

Now that we have discussed what current owners of the vehicle have to say, lets take a peak at the opinions of the “car experts” and see what there take on the 2014 Hyundai Sonata is. First, the positive; the experts describe that they love the stylish exterior of the vehicle (very slick, has a modern look), they describe the gas mileage as “impeccable”, the vehicle has a large trunk for ample storage space and the vehicle has a surprisingly large interior making it comfortable even if the car is packed. But, there are also a couple drawback to this vehicle. For example, the experts describe the interior trim to look “cheap” in some areas and the modern roofline makes the backseat a little bit “snug”. Clearly, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages in this situation.

So far, so good! The 2014 Hyundai Sonata is shaping up to be one of our “top recommended” picks!

How has the Sonata Evolved?

The original Sonata was debuted in 1985, needless to say, it has been in production for many years. That’s why this particular vehicle has seven generations, many more generations than other Hyundai vehicles. We will discuss the first three generations in this review. Reason being, in the first three generations is when the majority of the features seen on the new Sonata was conceptualized.

First Generation:

The first generation Sonata was a face lifted Hyundai Stellar with an engine upgrade. But, this particular generation was “yanked” from the market after only a couple years because of poor traction (traction in regard to market share). Consumers simply did not like this vehicle.

Second Generation:

The second generation was released in North America with the hopes that it would be better accepted into that market. It worked! The Sonata was gladly accepted into the North American market. Reason being, it had a new, sleek body and larger engine to deliver more horsepower.

Third Generation:

The third generation is when all the pieces of the puzzle started to really come together. This generation was debuted with a engine that possessed the 103 horsepower, even though the 2014 Hyundai Sonata has much more horsepower, the same transmission was used in the third generation that is used in the current model.

2014 Sonata Final Verdict

Unlike other Hyundai vehicles, the Sonata has a lot of “pick up” and can be rather quick. Usually, I end up saying that if your looking for a vehicle specifically to go fast in, Hyundai is not the correct manufacturer for you, this vehicle proved me wrong! With the 2014 Hyundai Sonata, you can enjoy comfort and drive a family around, and “go fast” if that’s what your heart desires! Overall, this is a great vehicle, if you want to save some money upfront and in the long run considering the fuel economy of this vehicle is very good!
