2013 Hyundai Sonata: Must Read Review!

The Hyundai Sonata has been around for some time now. Reason being, it’s an awesome vehicle and the demand has ALWAYS been strong for this particular model. Consumers seem to be in love with this vehicle, not to mention, the experts have a lot of “good” to say. It also has a hybrid version for anyone that wants to “go green” and help to conserve and preserve!

2013 SonataThis year’s Sonata is Here to Stay

The 2013 Hyundai Sonata comes standard with a lot of glaring features: the high-efficiency four-cylinder engine, a high-powered turbo four-cylinder engine, six-speed automatic transmission, heated seats and (like I previously mentioned) this vehicle is available in a hybrid version.

The Sonata is available in several different models: the GLS 4dr Sedan, the SE 4dr Sedan, the SE 2.0T Sedan, the Limited Sedan and finally the Limited 2.0T Sedan. The GLS has a gas mileage of 24 miles per gallon city driving and has 35 miles per gallon highway driving. The SE sedan has a gas mileage of 24 miles per gallon city driving and 35 miles per gallon highway driving (same as the SE model).

Because of the increased horsepower of the SE 2.0T model, the gas mileage is a little bit lower at 22 miles per gallon city and 34 miles per gallon on the highway. The Limited model has the same gas mileage as the GLS and SE standard models (24 miles per gallon city and 35 miles per gallon highway). Finally, the Limited 2.0T Sedan gets a gas mileage of 22 miles per gallon city driving and 34 miles per gallon highway driving.

The pricing is very competitive in regards to the Sonata as well. For example, it starts at $20,293 and goes all the way to $27,595 which is very good for a luxury Sedan. If you have been searching the market and have seen some of the “other guys” pricing you for sure understand. The horsepower for this vehicle is staggering; starting at 190 horsepower for the most basic model and goes all the up to 274 horse power for the 2.0T Limited edition model.

The 2013 Hyundai Sonata

Hyundai strides to ensure all the vehicles they produce are as safe as possible; this is no different in the case of this vehicle. The 2013 Hyundai Sonata received a rating of “5 out of 5” from the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA). Keeping my loved ones safe is my number one goal when purchasing a new vehicle, that’s why if I was in the market for a Sedan, I would FOR SURE decide on this vehicle!

2013 Hyundai Sonata Reviews

In this section we will examine what the experts and consumers have to say about this vehicle. Lets start with the experts, the vehicle has a stylish exterior, the gas mileage is extraordinary, this vehicle has a lot of truck space (perfect for the modern day family) and the interior has ample room. The experts explain a few drawbacks as well, some of the interior looks “cheap” and the low roofline makes the back seat a little bit “cozy” (tight for taller people).

Now lets take a look at what the consumers (who have actually purchased the vehicle) have to say about the Sonata. 123 people were given a survey to determine how they like their vehicle, they were asked to judge their vehicle on six different areas: comfort, performance, exterior styling, interior design, value for the money and reliability. Lets see how these consumers judged the vehicle.

  • Comfort received a 4.4 out of 5.
  • Performance also received a 4.4 out of 5.
  • Exterior styling received a 4.7 out of 5.
  • Interior design received a rating of 4.5 out of 5.
  • Value for the money received an overall rating of 4.4 out of 5 (in my personal opinion, I feel this should have been rated higher overall. The vehicle is very reasonable in terms of pricing, and the excellent fuel economy allows this vehicle to save you a ton of money overtime).
  • And finally, reliability received a 4.3 out of 5.

These results were determined from averaging together all the individual results from the surveys and averaging them together into one number (for each parameter).

Evolution of the Sonata:

A lot has changed on the Sonata from 2012 to 2013. For example, this vehicle saw a facelift along with more options to make your ride more comfortable and allow this vehicle to feel more like a luxury type vehicle. The location of introduction has also change. For example, Hyundai has begun expanding where the Sonata is being sold because of how wildly successful this vehicle has been in the market place. Lets take a look at some of the various “generations” this vehicle has gone through.

This vehicle has gone through seven generations of production and man, has it come a long way. Production on this vehicle started in 1985 and is still being produced to this day. Of course the vehicles that are being produced today are of much better quality than their 1985 counterparts. For example, safety standards have increased exponentially (mostly because of government intervention).

Also, the appearance of the vehicle has changed greatly; the design used to be bulky and very bad to look at. Nowadays, the Sonata has a sleek and streamlined design. This has seriously improved the sedans sales and allowed Hyundai to continue improving the concept of this vehicle.

2013 Sonata Final Verdict: Should You Buy?

The decision seems pretty simple to me, YES you should for sure purchase this vehicle. If you had any doubts surrounding the 2013 Hyundai Sonata, I’m sure I have cleared them up. The gas mileage is incredible, the safety rating is as high as it can possibly be, the initial purchase price is very reasonable and the design and streamlined design makes this vehicle look very good! If I was going on a road trip and had such precious cargo (my family) in the vehicle, I would want to be driving a Sonata (for the drivability and the “all star” safety rating). The decision is clear, if you’re in the market for an affordable sedan, you have found your vehicle!
