The 2011 Acura MDX has Arrived !

This year’s 2011 Acura MDX is unchanged when compared with the 2010 version. The only modifications that are noticeable are some minor feature changes and bug fixes. Even though there have been no major upgrades, we are still looking at a top quality SUV for the class and for the brand.

2011 MDX In-Depth Review

A car that is desirable yet sensible. Some of the greatest attributes of this vehicle include: a really well crafted interior, advanced technology and user friendly capabilities, good fuel economy and a really strong engine. The only two cons that might make you disinterested is the small interior cabin space and the fact that the control layout simply has too many buttons. Some of them are not properly arranged but most people are able to get used to them fairly easy.

As for trims, you will only find only one trim on the market. The standard equipment will always include: 18 inch wheels, fog lamps, Xenon headlamps, sunroof, power liftgate, heated eight-way front power seats, two-way driver adjustable lumbar seat, privacy glass, telescoping steering wheel, tri-zone climate control, leather upholstery, auto dimming rear view mirror, eight-speaker audio sound system, rearview camera, satellite radio and an auxiliary audio jack for your USB MP3 player or for your iPod.

In addition, this year’s model offers the possibility to get an optional technology package. If you opt for it, you will receive solar sensing climate controls, a GPS system, multi-view parking camera, a navigation system, voice controls, a ten-speaker surround audio system that features an audio interface for USB and iPod and real time weather and traffic reports.

You can even include the advanced package; which adds 19-inch wheels, CMBS, adaptive cruise control, adaptive suspension, blind spot warning system, sport steering wheel, ventilated front seats and auto-leveling headlamps.

2011 Acura MDX Performance and Powertrain

The engine responsible for the power behind this SUV is a V6 3.7 liter model that offers 300 hp. The addition of a six-speed automatic gearbox and the Super Handling system by Acura will make the entire driving experience a lot more pleasurable.

During special performance tests, it was shown that this year’s model is capable of reaching 60 miles per hour in just 7.1 seconds. The fuel economy is estimated at 18 miles per gallon and when the car is properly equipped, the maximum MDX tow capacity is five thousand pounds.

Now onto safety. It is nice to see that there are so many standard safety features that are included in the 2011 model. This includes: brake assist, stability control, front active head restraints, antilock disk brakes, side airbags and front airbags. You can opt for the optional CMBS too, which will monitor distances and will alert the driver if there is the possibility that a collision might occur. In this case, sharp braking instantly activates itself when the collision is considered to be imminent.

The 2011 MDX is also capable of stopping from a speed of 60mph in only 100 feet – something that is not easily found on other SUV’s. Top safety ratings are offered by both the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the Government.

Driving Impressions

Where else can you find a three-row SUV that performs well and has a sleek exterior design? The technology equipped in the MDX helps handle tough curves and rocky bumps while offering suitable quickness. There is absolutely no denying the fact that the 2011 Acura MDX is one of the top SUV’s on the market today. Not to mention it has a powerful V6 engine that is sure to please any driver and comes in with several noticeable upgrades from the 2010 MDX.
