2014 Hyundai Genesis Offers Luxury at an Affordable Price

If you are ready to upgrade from a mid-size sedan, it is time to consider the 2014 Hyundai Genesis. It is truly remarkable that you can buy a luxury vehicle that rivals an Audi for the price of a Chrysler, but it’s true.

Hyundai has managed to design and manufacture a truly luxurious sedan that has top-of-the-line features like their 7.1 Discrete Auto sound system (one of the best you can buy) and plush leather seats that are heated and cooled for the driver. These are the type of features and high-end finishes that have typically only been associated with European luxury. Hyundai has just changed the game.

2014 GenesisNew Features for the 2014 Genesis

When comparing the 2013 Hyundai Genesis, the 2014 model has added the much-anticipated heating steering wheel. If you live anywhere other than Florida or California, this feature can be a lifesaver for several months out of the year.

Aesthetically, the Genesis now has 18-inch wheels. This year also brings the addition of an Assurance Connected Care program. This integrates with their Blue Link system and also features roadside assistance, collision notifications, and their Hyundai car care.

Up the Performance with the V-8

While the standard model will provide you with the features and comfort you require, if you want it to perform at a higher capacity, you should consider looking at the V-8. With 429 horsepower, you will notice a difference in speed but also in overall handling. It is stiffer and you are likely to notice the improvements when taking corners. This is an essential upgrade if you want to feel as though you are driving a European model.

Benefits of Driving the 2014 Genesis

#1 You can drive a luxury car. – Let’s face it, European luxury cars are priced above what most people can afford. This leaves options that deliver functionality but without significant comfort, high-end features or top performance. While most mid and full-size sedans “work” they are lacking the extra oomph that makes it fun to drive them. The 2014 Genesis has stepped in to solve this problem. For the same price as a standard sedan, you can now get all of the luxury features you crave. If you never thought you could afford to drive a luxury car, its time to schedule a test drive.

#2 There are two body styles. – You can select between the standard, four-door sedan or a sleek and sportier coupe. While the sedan certainly has more passenger room, the coupe has better gas mileage. Which one you select will likely be based on your personal style preference but both will certainly deliver clear quality and an enjoyable drive.

#3 Pick your engine type. – When it comes to options, the 2014 model delivers several engine types. You can buy yours with a 2.0 L 4-cylinder, 3.8 L V6, or 5.0 L V8.

#4 Decent gas mileage. – While certainly not as good as a hybrid or a compact, it provides decent gas mileage, coming in at 19/27 mpg.

#5 Incredible features. – You don’t have to choose between high-end features like a heated steering wheel and your budget as you get both on the exterior and interior. Unlike other sedans where you have to pay to add features like heated seats, these come standard for your convenience and your comfort.

Cost of Ownership

Hyundai delivers clear value, regardless of which model you buy and the Genesis is no exception. You simply get more for the price. It is remarkable for the fact that you feel as though you are driving a Lexus or Audi but it is actually a Hyundai and priced accordingly. Plus, one of the greatest benefits to value is the length of the warranty. The Genesis comes with a 5 year, 60,000 mile warranty and a 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty on the powertrain which is far better than its’ more expensive rivals. You are not going to find a standard warranty like this with the European set.

Chrome trim, daytime running lights, and large wheels make it standout from anything else in the Hyundai lineup. Probably on purpose, Hyundai mimicked European luxury cars so the front grill, exterior lines, and trunk all mirror the brands you have been watching for years.

It seems like a beautifully blended combination of the world’s best luxury brands which can be a good thing if you want to blend in and keep people guessing about the brand of car you drive. If, however, you want something that is unique and stands apart this won’t be your best option.

The Genesis has clean lines and an elegant interior. If you have ever driven a BMW, you will recognize the joystick style control system that lets you use the navigation and computer system. People either love this system or hate it because you have to get used to manipulating it while driving. Once accustomed, however, it is much easier to operate.

As for the finish work, the materials Hyundai used are superior to what many brands put in their vehicles. The leather is high-quality and they have thought about all of the little features that take a car from being “near” luxury to being a full luxury vehicle. This includes an incredible sound system, heated steering wheel, and a drivers’ seat that is both heated and cooled.

2014 Hyundai Genesis Reviews

Well received by both buyers and critics, the Genesis does not disappoint in quality, value, or performance. It received a 4 of 5 stars by Edmunds while Car and Driver gave it a 7.8 of 10 because it does not come with all-wheel drive and the rear-view camera is only an option on the base model, instead of being a standard feature. Still they raved about it’s strong acceleration, smooth ride and rich interior. As long as the AWD feature is not a deal breaker for you, the 2014 Genesis is an excellent and worthy option!
