Is the 2016 Nissan Altima the Right Vehicle for you?

Nissan lovers are raving about the new 2016 Altima. The improved performance and comfort are just a few things Nissan enthusiasts have been raving about. Let’s take a closer look.

2016 AltimaLike other vehicles produced by Nissan, the Altima comes in various models. You can decide between the S, the SR, the SV and the SL. The S model is the most basic, the SR would be considered the sport model and the SL would be considered the Limited version (or in other words, the luxury model). The basic 2016 Nissan Altima has 182 horsepower while the sport and luxury models have substantially more. Both of these come in with a staggering 270 horsepower and 251 pounds of torque at 6,500 RPM’s.

For a four-door sedan, the fuel economy is also very competitive. For instance, the basic model receives 27 miles per gallon city and 39 miles per gallon highway. The sport model receives 26 miles per gallon city and 37 miles per gallon highway. Not a huge difference from the basic Altima, but with gas prices where they are, every extra mile helps. Finally, the luxury Altima (with a v-6) gets 22 miles per gallon city and 32 miles per gallon highway. If you’re strictly looking for a vehicle with excellent fuel economy, the basic model would be your best option. Now lets discuss the most important factor in your buying decision: how much is this 2016 Altima going to cost you? Pricing starts at $21,446 for the most basic Altima model and goes all the way up to $32,690 for the more advanced luxury model.

2016 Altima Safety Features

Safety is probably another huge factor in your buying decision. The 2016 Altima blusters a safety rating of 5 stars. This rating was tested and awarded by the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). What the 5 star rating wont tell you is the results of the actual testing. After further inspection, the Nissan Altima actually scored higher for safety than any other Nissan sedan on the market. If safety is your number one concern, this is the vehicle for you! The savings never end with this vehicle, because of the exceptional long-term safety rating; you can expect your insurance rate to be lower as well.

2016 Nissan Altima Reviews

The new 2016 Nissan Altima

This is where the Altima really stands out from the rest of the sedans in its segment. After checking the reviews of this particular vehicle, it’s clear to see why it has been successfully penetrating the North American markets for so long. A simple survey was created and distributed to a number of 2016 Altima owners and the results were astonishing.

The consumers were asked to judge the Altima on six different factors: comfort, performance, exterior styling, interior design, value for the money and reliability.

  • Comfort received a perfect rating of 5 out of 5.
  • Performance (for the sport edition) received a 4.8 out of 5.
  • Exterior styling also received a perfect score of 5 out of 5.
  • Value for the money received a 5 out of 5 (the Altima is priced very competitively).
  • Interior design was a awarded a 5 out of 5.
  • Finally, reliability received another 5 out of 5.

See a trend here? Yes, people LOVE the 2016 Nissan Altima! Every vehicle I have ever reviewed has had some hate from owners. This is the first time a survey was returned with near perfect scores.

The experts had nothing but positive things to say as it seems everyone is in love with this year’s model. Here are some of the positives outlined by the experts – the vehicle possesses very strong acceleration, is equipped with a responsive transmission, and the fuel economy is mind-blowing! Just some of the attributes that make this vehicle that much better than last year’s 2015 Altima.

Evolution of the Altima

A lot has changed with the Altima series, but lets take a look at some of the more recent advancements. The first upgrade the Altima will see in 2016 is the midcycle styling refresh which will allow the vehicle (as a whole) to look more stylish and attractive to fellow drivers. Also, even though the Nissan Altima’s safety rating has always been exceptional, the manufacturers have added new advanced safety features. One of these new safety additions which I find very interesting, is the feature that allows the vehicle to stop itself if it detects you are approaching another vehicle too quickly. Many car manufactures are making this a standard feature on their vehicles, and it is no surprise that Nissan is the front-runner on this new technology. Another thing you will see on the new and improved Altima is a “sporty” trim level. Again, this will make the vehicle more visibly attractive.

2016 Altima Closing Thoughts

If your goal is to street race, very few Nissan vehicles will satisfy you. But lets be realistic, if you’re reading this review, your probably not looking for a street-racing vehicle. Instead, your most likely looking for a vehicle that is going to be fuel efficient and be able to take you from A to B safely. This spacious sedan is a perfect fit for you if savings and safety are what you’re looking for. Without a negative review in the bunch, you have no excuse to not look at the new 2016 Nissan Altima.
