Fiat 500 Review and History

The Fiat 500 is an italian car that was first launched in 1957. Since then, it has come a long way taking on many different designs and features. A few years ago in 2007, Fiat celebrated the car’s 50th anniversary by launching the newest version.

It was such a big revamping of the vehicle that critics and customers everywhere were shocked with how different it looked and all the new features it had. Not only does it have a brand new unique style and design, but it also now has superior handling as well. In fact, many customers have claimed that the Fiat is the funnest vehicle they have ever driven. If you ever get a chance to drive one, you will surely be pleased with how smooth and comfortable the ride is.

You will have a very hard time finding any other car that looks similar to this one as it has one of the most unique looks of any car on the market. It has kept many of the familiar exterior features as it used to have such as the round upper headlights, the whiskers and the Fiat logo.

It has fourteen different body colors to choose from all with a pastel, pearl, or metallic finish to it. It is a very petite two-door vehicle measuring in at 11 feet, 7.76 inches tall and 5 feet, 3 inches wide.

When Fiat revamped this model back in 2007, they paid extra attention to the interior. Two-color seats, matching dashboard trim, new storage spaces, fragrance dispensers, and a sporty speedometer all provide for a more comfortable, tasteful ride.

Various Models

This vehicle comes in several different models. The first model is the Fiat Pop. This is the standard package that includes all the stock features you would find on this model. Nothing special to mention here but the MSRP starts as low as $15,500.

Fiat 500The next model up is the Fiat Sport which comes with all the basic features that the Pop has with some bonus features as well. These features include: Sporty rear spoiler, 16″ Aluminum Alloy Wheels, Red Brake Calipers, Deluxe Premium Sound System, Fog Lamps, Sport Suspension, and available Navigation. The MSRP on the Sport starts at $17,500.

Next we have the Fiat Lounge which is even more luxurious than the previous two, boasting an MSRP of $18,500. The most notable features on the Lounge include: Six-Speed Automatic Transmission, Glass Roof, Exterior Accents, Elegant Cloth Seats, Satellite Radio, and a Security Alarm System.

For many years, these used to be the only three models available to the market… until now. Recently, Fiat has just brought the new Abarth model to the United States – going one step further in terms of sportiness and luxuriousness.

Fiat 500 Performance

The Fiat 500‘s engine only produces 101 horsepower, one of the most underpowered cars of our time. Although right off the bat one would think this is a bad thing, I wouldn’t jump to that conclusion just yet. In fact, many test drivers say that the low horsepower fits the car’s frame perfectly and makes for a perfectly smooth ride. This car definitely wouldn’t rank high for being a powerful, speed-demon vehicle; but as far as being an efficient city-dwelling town-car, its one of the best.
